The internet’s first webstore dedicated to the Hardanger fiddle.

Oslo Hardanger Fiddles was started by Alex Carroll, and American-Dutch citizen living in Oslo, Norway. Passionate about the folk music traditions of Norway, he first learned to play fiddle in the Østerdal tradition of Eastern Norway.

When he decided to start learning the hardanger fiddle, he soon realized that the search for a good fiddle was going to be more difficult than he imagined. The fiddles that were available were few and spread out all over Norway, there weren't any stores catering to the hardanger fiddle, trying and comparing multiple instruments in one spot was impossible, the condition of the instruments was a gamble, and how the instrument sounded was a mystery. It shouldn't be so hard to find a good quality instrument in Norway, the home of the hardanger fiddle!

After this experience, the idea of Oslo Hardanger Fiddles was born. Oslo Hardanger Fiddles aims to:

• Provide fiddle players with good quality options when looking for a fiddle or bow
• Serve the hardanger fiddle community in a modern and convenient way
• Create a one-stop shop where fiddlers can find everything they need
• Serve the community of Hardanger fiddle players in Norway and abroad
• Promote the exceptional craftsmanship of contemporary fiddle makers
